About

Me at Muga Winery

Hello! Thanks for visiting my blog. My name is Colleen, and I love everything having to do with food. I’ve been cooking with my family for as long as I can remember and developed an obsession with great food at a young age.

I grew up eating a lot of Spanish food. Some of my best memories are cooking paella and fideau with my dad and all sorts of tapas with my mom.

I started Culinary Colleen as a creative outlet when I started my “traditional” career after college. My job took me on the road almost every week, so I’ve had fun blogging about my travels and adventures.

These days, I’m living with my boyfriend Matt in New York City. And after six and a half years as an IT consultant, I quit my job to go back to school for nutrition. I’m currently working towards my Master’s in Nutrition in Dietetics at NYU with the goal of becoming a Registered Dietitian.

I’ve also been cooking more than ever lately and loving every minute. I spend my spare time trying to learn the secrets of fresh pasta, finding recipes that appeal to both me and my vegetarian boyfriend, cooking copious amounts of kale, and experimenting with sous vide cooking.

When I’m not cooking, you can find me running, learning to make beer, hunting for the ultimate $4 wine at Trader Joe’s*, and watching far too much trashy tv.
