I (reluctantly) rolled out of bed bright and early last Sunday morning to run the B.A.A. 10K, the middle race in the B.A.A. Distance Medley.

This was my first official 10K race ever, and I was actually really looking forward to it. (That is, up until my alarm went off at 5:45am.) I had been training pretty hard, trying to get faster and gearing up for my first full marathon in November (more on that later!).

The race through downtown Boston felt significantly more organized than the 5K in April, but it was HOT outside.

The route started at Boston Common. The start looks chaotic, but it was actually well organized in waves. People even lined up where they were supposed to, for the most part!

The route was essentially down Comm Ave and back. I snapped this picture right at the turnaround point. It was a great view of the city, but that’s right about when the sun started beating down!

We were all so happy to be done, and I was even more happy when I found out I finished in 54:25 with a 8:46 pace. I honestly never thought I would see a 10K pace in the 8’s! However, Matt totally kicked my butt with his 7:03 pace. Maybe I’ll catch up to him someday…

And of course no race would be complete without brunch.

It worked out perfectly that The Painted Burro just started serving Brunch that Sunday. I ordered the Chorizo de la Casa Tacos with farm eggs, potatoes, and chipotle mayo. The eggs were perfectly runny, making for a deliciously messy meal.

The Philadelphia Marathon! I’m crazy nervous and excited at the same time. I went to college in Philadelphia and lived there after graduation, so the city holds a special place in my heart. I can’t wait to go back and run my first marathon!

      Thanks! And I definitely recommend their brunch. My boyfriend got the Taza chocolate pancakes that were also pretty amazing.

    I had those chorizo tacos for dinner once and it just felt too brunchy! Glad to see they serve the dish during brunch as well
