Four Burgers

Beef BurgerLast week I dined with some fellow Boston bloggers at Four Burgers, a fast casual restaurant with locations in Boston and Cambridge. Its concept is straightforward: you choose from one of four burger options (beef, turkey, salmon, or black bean), and then customize it with your choice of bun, cheese, and other toppings. They sometimes offer additional burgers like lamb, ostrich, and bison as specials. Beer and wine is also available, making the experience feel a little more upscale than a standard fast casual restaurant.

We met at the Boston location in the Theatre District and were greeted by the restaurant manager. He explained their emphasis on offering healthy options and locally sourcing as much as possible. After perusing the menu for a bit, we all went up to the counter to order.

Turkey Burger

I ordered the Turkey Burger on a wheat bun with pepperjack cheese and house cured jalapenos. It also came with a side of cranberry apple chutney.

Turkey Burger

I usually find turkey burgers too dry, so I was intrigued when I heard that this version was made with apples. The good news is that the burger was nicely seasoned and flavorful. The bad news is that the apples didn’t add much moisture to the lean turkey.

Lamb Burger

I was sitting across from Katie and tried some of her Lamb Burger (the daily special). She ordered it medium rare and went with their suggested topping of cucumber-feta salad.

Lamb Burger

The burger was cooked more on the medium side, but was still surprisingly moist. I tried a bite and definitely enjoyed it more than my turkey burger. The refreshing salad on top was really the perfect topping for the rich lamb.

We shared an order of Half Idaho – Half Sweet Potato Fries. I loved the combination, though the sweet potato fries could have been a little more crisp and I would have liked them a little saltier.

We also shared a side of Organic Mesclun Greens (you know, to cancel out the fries). It was piled high with fresh veggies and served with a tangy and refreshing lemon dressing.

Beef Burger

I didn’t try the regular Beef Burger, but snapped a picture of @BostonAttitude‘s burger with bacon and a fried egg. He said the patty was a little small, but seemed happy with it otherwise.

I wasn’t excited about all of the food I tried, and probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come back, but I think it would be a good place to grab a quick meal if in the area. I like that you can order something either healthy or indulgent (or a little bit of both like we did). I would also be curious to try the salmon and black bean burgers, and I would love to see them start regularly offering that lamb burger.

Big thanks to Jen for for organizing!
