Our last day in Madrid!

We had kind of slacked off on doing the touristy things in Madrid, so that’s what we did on our last day. We got up early and went to the Reina Sofia museum. From there, we walked all the way over to the Rastro, Madrid’s Sunday flea market. After being a little overwhelmed by the crowds, we headed to La Trucha again for lunch. In hindsight, we probably shouldn’t have gone to the same restaurant 3 times in one trip. However, Matt really wanted to try their grilled artichoke after my mom and I had raved about it.

I didn’t take pictures there this time. Matt got fried eggs with potatoes, and I think they were the best version he had of that all trip. I, on the other hand, got the trout a la trucha, which was a little disappointing. I think the whole fish was fried and then split open, which left the flesh very moist but kind of bland.

For dessert, we wandered over to the Plaza Mayor to finally try churros and chocolate from where we heard was the best place to get them: Chocolateria San Gines.

The churros were great (and the portion was huge), but the chocolate was just okay. It was a little too sweet, but not actually rich tasting.

We had to get up super early for our flights the next day, so we grabbed some tapas at a little bar across the street from our hotel for dinner and went to bed early.

What a wonderful trip!
