NYC Marathon Weekend – Day One

Matt ran the New York City Marathon yesterday, so we made a whole weekend of it. I was once again reminded of how much I love it there.

We took the Bolt Bus on Friday afternoon. I am definitely less tolerant of the Bolt Bus than Matt is. The seats are so uncomfortable! I got through it by thinking about dinner at Thai Terminal…

…and that’s where we headed right after checking into our hotel.

As usual, we started with the Vegetarian Appetizer Assortment with chive pancakes (my favorite), curry puffs, spring rolls, and gyoza.

I got the Spicy Bamboo Beef. Delicious, as always.

Matt got his favorite – Drunken Noodles with Mock Duck.

After dinner, we met up with one of Matt’s friends at Bar Henry and stayed to watch the band for a little while.

We ended the night at a pretty serious cocktail bar called Little Branch in the West Village. We usually have a hard time getting a table there, but I think we managed to get there late enough to avoid the crowd. It’s dark and cozy inside, which makes for a blurry picture…

I had the Corpse Reviver #2 (left), which had gin, absinthe, and cocchi. It sounds like a weird combination, but it was incredible. Matt got a Presbyterian (right) with rye, ginger beer, and lime. These were some impressive cocktails.
