Oklahoma State Fair

Elephant Ear
Matt and I decided to check out the Oklahoma State Fair while we were in town. Between the pig racing, goat shows, and every kind of fried food imaginable (on a stick), it was an eye-opening experience for the both of us. We didn’t stay for too long, but here are some highlights:

Pig Racing

Pig Racing. Cute little pigs, kind of disturbing concept.
Cattle Show

Cattle Show. I’m still not sure what makes a prize cow, but it was interesting nevertheless.

Little Chicks. Not very interesting, I just thought they were cute, and they seemed to want their picture taken.
Goat Show

Goat Shows. Who knew there were so many breeds of goat?
Petting Zoo

Baby Goat at the Petting Zoo. I also just thought this was cute. I’m also pretty sure this portion of the fair was meant for children, but that didn’t stop us.

Nacholupa. I’m not sure how this is different from regular nachos, or what Mexi-beans are, but I didn’t really want to find out.
Chicken Parfait

Roast Beef Sundae, Chicken Parfait. ???
Fried Jalapeno

Fried Jalapeno. Now this was tasty stuff. The massive jalapeno, seeds and all, was put on a stick and deep fried. The ranch dressing was that gluey stuff that you see in those bulk plastic containers, but it was sort of necessary to tame the heat of the jalapeno.
Elephant Ear

Elephant Ear. Also known as fried dough, in the Northeast at least. After frying, it was brushed with butter and sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar. Can’t really go wrong with that.
